Pressure cushions come in a wide range, from those simply intended to make life more comfortable to those which are often medically prescribed for people who are at risk of, or already suffering from, pressure sores. The latter usually have a "Waterlow score" to indicate their appropriateness according to the severity of the condition. A score of "ten plus" indicates people "at risk" of pressure sores; "fifteen plus" indicates "high risk"; and "twenty plus" is "very high risk". Where a cushion is Waterlow rated we have indicated this. However these cushions are often prescribed and are normally used after consultation with a proper medical authority. They are also often available in more than one size - we have available on this site only a standard size - others would have to be ordered either by phone or email by clicking here
Our basic (non-Waterlow) cushions are largely, though not exclusively, from Putnams, an acknowledged leader in the field.
